Back To Work

Sunday was another air alert day, so we couldn’t even go for a germ-free walk. It’s nice that people come to visit us during these days so we don’t get mid-summer cabin fever. Siobhan came by to print 36 wallet sized pictures of Sophia to take with her to overnight camp. She made a photo wallet out of duct tape; apparently this is a sanctioned craft at Minneapolis Kids. Sophia is flattered to be going with a 10-year-old buddy to camp. Sophia has been really moving her arms a lot this weekend–grabbing her own hair, grabbing her ear, finding her nose, etc. We’re having so much fun watching her new discoveries.

Today was my first day back at work. Surprisingly, I made it all day without crying. Papa assured me several times it was really okay to leave, as they would be just fine. I seem to remember needing only an hour to get ready for work, but this morning it took three. Thankfully the rest of the day went smoothly. It was very nice to be welcomed back so sweetly, and although I missed Sophia, it was nice to see everyone. I did come home for lunch, not because I’m obsessive (or to check up on John), but to meet my Aunt Carey and her husband Bill who were in town. Papa had been practicing smiling during the morning, and we got several big smiles during the day. It is going to be hard to miss all of her new discoveries but it is great to see her so happy. Annie and her family were back in MN again, so they stopped by for dinner tonight. Unfortunately, we had to have Sophia sleep upstairs in her bassinet because of the little ones, but hopefully someday soon she’ll get to play with other kids. They brought another box of hand-me-downs, so we are going to have a lot of fun dressing Sophia as she gets bigger. Tomorrow we have home health and a school district evaluation, so I’ll be home again. It is nice to be able to start this back-to-work thing gradually. We’ll see what new discovery Sophia will make tomorrow…
